Join us for a variety of fun and free art activities at WHALE Arts this Summer for toddlers, children and teenagers. From wands and potions to fun family days out to the Edinburgh Festival!

At ‘Circus School’ you can learn some amazing skills and create a show for friends and family. Or pop along to ‘You decide’ sessions – we have a massive range of materials and artist makers to work with you on your own project, whatever it may be. You decide!

WHALE Arts Innovative New Project Helping Create Future Digital Leaders

07/06/2019 By Whale Arts

WHALE Arts is happy to announce the launch of their new project “Digital Technology and the Future of work”, which will see the organisation work with local young people, linking them to experts and new technologies and nurturing them to become future digital leaders.

The exciting new project, funded by the Robertson Trust, Cashback for Creativity and the City of Edinburgh Council’s Choose Youthwork scheme will see WHALE work with local groups and schools, by holding sessions showing young people new skills and creative uses for everyday technology. Throughout the course of the project WHALE will invite interested young people to join a Digital Future Leaders Group to steer the project and raise the technologies they are most interested in. Working with academic partners at Napier University and the University of Edinburgh, WHALE will identify experts in these technologies and invite them to hold sessions with the young people, letting them experience the exciting cutting edge developments in these technologies.

The project will join WHALE Arts’ exciting youth programme of activities which offers free creative activities in everything from dancing, painting to song writing and previous work between WHALE and Napier University which saw local young people create an audio and visual interactive map about their sense of community and place.

Leah Black, Chief Executive, WHALE Arts
‘We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded funding from CashBack for Creativity, the Robertson Trust and the City of Edinburgh Council’s Choose Youthwork programme for our new project focused on creative technology working alongside young people from Wester Hailes and nurturing them as digital leaders of the future’.

The workshops will launch over the Summer break. If you or someone you know might be interested get in touch with WHALE Arts on 0131 458 3267 or info@whalearts.co.uk.
