In Memory of Doris Brown

07/07/2016 By Whale Arts

Doris Brown

‘It is with great sorrow that we at WHALE Arts hear of the passing of long time board member Doris Brown. Doris was a pillar of the community and has been heavily involved in many of our projects and events over the years. We are grateful for all the work and support she has provided for the organisation. Her generous spirit, bubbly personality and hard work in supporting the community will be dearly missed.’

Michelle Herron
Chair of the Board, WHALE Arts

The Digital Sentinel has paid tribute to Doris Brown here.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday 19th July, 13:30 at the Methodist Central Hall in Tollcross (2 West Tollcross, Edinburgh EH3 9BP).

The Wester Hailes Fun Run 2016 took place on Sunday 19 June with a wonderful turnout from the community.

Thank you very much to everyone who supported WHALE’s Fun Run team, and of course to the runners themselves! Our fundraising total to date is a whopping £350. If you’d still like to make a donation, please use our Local Giving page or pop into the WHALE Arts Centre.

We are proud to display the John Aitchison Memorial Shield at reception. This award was presented by local MSP Gordon Macdonald to Billy Herron, the first runner back aged over 50.
