It’s summer at WHALE Arts and we can’t wait for our awesome summer holiday programme, packed full of fun, creative and free activities for ages 0 – 18.
If you want to try something new these holidays, we’re going to be dancing, sculpting, making art, going on trips and much more, with partners including DanceBase, Edinburgh Art Festival , the Fringe Society and Dance Ihayami among others.
Here’s the deal:
WEEK 1 – STREET ARTS
The first week of our summer programme is designed to give you a taste of WHALE Arts and our award-winning Street Arts programme. Join us for Puppet Making, Street Arts tasters and the return of our legendary Slime Party. Hip hop? Contemporary? Pop and Lock? You take the lead with our Dance Base Street Dance sessions for teens.
WEEK 2 – ART
It’s art week at WHALE and we have lots of creative sessions and trips, including an Art School for ages 8-10 and family trips to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and Edinburgh Art Festival workshops.
WEEK 3 – INDIAN DANCE
Feel the beats alongside professional dancers from Dance Ihayami to create an original performance piece, fusing music and dance into show-stopping live performance. A full week of dance, music and more for ages 10+. We’ll be performing our final show on Friday afternoon for families and friends to show off what we have achieved during the week.
WEEK 4 – PLAY
This week is all about play in celebration of National Play Day on Wednesday 1 August. Throughout the week we will be mixing art and play with a range of exciting activities from parkour to the Big Draw, to special messy food play sessions from Tasting Change.
