A Stitch ‘n’ Time story:
WHALE has a great variety of groups running that help people struggling with a variety of issues. Discovering that so many people out there are just like me was reassuring and the people running the sessions are incredibly supportive and understanding.
WHALE Arts helped me by providing a supporting and reassuring environment where I could be part of a small group. Stitch ‘n’ Time is a calm relaxing and supportive group where I have been able to reconnect with something I can enjoy.
I love being around such terrific people. I especially love that the work I do there is for the good of the community. Being able to take part in projects for the good of others has given me such a sense of purpose.
A smART CRAFT story:
I have been coming to smART CRAFT for about 3 or 4 years. Originally I came to the Craft Cafe which Liz was running. Liz is a very good tutor, she puts a lot of herself into it.
I like coming because the other people are interesting and a lot of people are disabled in a way, but I find it inspiring the way they do art. I live locally and there aren’t really any other activities locally.
The writing is going quite well as a result of doing articles for Craig [Community Reporter, the Digital Sentinel]. It’s encouraging me to get out and about. I need activities locally as I’m not very mobile. I feel people are quite friendly here at WHALE. I get a lot out of it. I find it quite inspiring.
